Week 2 Games Devotion (January 25th)
TEAMWORK
Verse: "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17)
Devotional: Teamwork is super important in basketball and in life. Have you ever tried to play a game all by yourself? It doesn’t work! We need each other to win, just like we need each other to grow in our faith. The Bible says that “iron sharpens iron,” meaning that when we spend time with others, we can help them and they can help us. That’s why it’s important to surround ourselves with people who love God and can help us live for Him.
Illustration: Think about your team. Imagine if no one passed the ball—if everyone tried to score all by themselves. It wouldn’t be a very good game, right? We win when we work together. In life, it’s the same. We need our friends, family, and teammates to help us grow and become stronger in our walk with God.
Can you think of a time when a friend helped you with something, like homework or a problem you had?
How can we help each other grow and become better at following Jesus?
Basketball Application: Teamwork in basketball means trusting your teammates. Just like passing the ball helps the whole team win, helping others in life helps everyone grow. God wants us to work together and encourage each other, just like we would on the court.
Takeaway for the Week: This week, let’s look for ways to be good teammates—not just in basketball but in life. Help a friend, encourage someone who’s sad, or lend a hand to your parents. We’re stronger when we work together!
