LEAGUE INFORMATION
SEASON INFORMATION
The first week of practices for the 2025 ONC Basketball season will begin the week of January 6th. Practices are one hour, one day each week for the length of our season. Our season consists of 6 weeks of games. Games will be every Saturday starting Saturday January 18th.
GAMES
Players will arrive 10 minutes early before your game at the Athlete Entrance (Sign will be outside). Your locker room assignment will be posted outside the doors of the classrooms.
Please make sure athletes and parents know they WILL NOT be returning to the locker rooms after the game because the next team will already be in there so they must take all belongings with them.
Quarters are 10 Minutes long with a stoppage at 5 minutes to substitute in new players. All players rotating at the 5 minute mark will be players who were not in the previous 5 minutes of play (Unless less than 10 players showed up for the game)
At the completion of a game players and coaches will be leave the court and head to the room next to the court for a short devotion. Parents will join or wait in the hallway outside. We ask that parents leave the court at the end of the game because the next game will be starting.
Any spectating children must remain seated with parents and family.
RULES BY DIVISION
Kindergarten
Hoop Height: 7ft
Basketball Size: 27.5
At this age, most kids are playing basketball for the very first time. Therefore rules and calling fouls is pretty much non-existent.
There is NO stealing off the dribble. Players can steal off the pass.
To block a shot 2 feet must be on the ground and the player's hands up. There is no jumping up to swat a shot.
There is no double-teaming. Each player must remain guarding their assigned player.
Traveling & Double Dribbling
Reminders to dribble the ball. Traveling is not called at this age.
Out of bounds
If the ball goes out of bounds please make sure the ball is taken back out and passed back in. Coaches can regulate when turnovers are necessary versus just a simple mistake that can go back to the player.
Shooting Foul
If a player is fouled while shooting, the ball is given back to the player to take a free shot. After they shoot from the spot of the foul it is a live ball.
