RULES BY DIVISION
Kindergarten
Hoop Height: 7ft
Basketball Size: 27.5
At this age, most kids are playing basketball for the very first time. Therefore rules and calling fouls is pretty much non-existent. Leniency to the players, but reminders of the rules are given out.
There is NO stealing off the dribble. Players can steal off the pass.
To block a shot 2 feet must be on the ground and the player's hands up. There is no jumping up to swat a shot.
Traveling & Double Dribbling
Reminders to dribble the ball. Traveling is not called at this age.
Out of bounds
If the ball goes out of bounds please make sure the ball is taken back out and passed back in. Coaches can regulate when turnovers are necessary versus just a simple mistake that can go back to the player.
Shooting Foul
If a player is fouled while shooting, the ball is given back to the player to take a free shot. After they shoot from the spot of the foul it is a live ball.
